You think your kids have the most beautiful story of how they came to be. You want them to know how much you loved them… even before you met them as embryos. You want them to know and love their own story.
But how will you share this story with them?
You need some tools to help you. You’ve already got a couple of books, but perhaps you want something more, well, personal. (After all, the way your kids came into this world was very unique.)
So you decide to create a Lifebook. You gather all your memorabilia and lots and lots of pictures from your embryo adoption journey:
Pictures of you and your husband as a couple, desiring kids.
Pictures of the clinic that your embryos were created at,
Pictures of the embryos that became your kids,
Pictures of the agency that you found them through,
And of your social worker,
Your clinic, your doctors,
You even include a picture of how your embryos came to you…
And of course, lots of pictures from your pregnancy,
and that most special arrival.
You even pull out the journal of lists that you made during your journey, lists of your emotions, your cravings, your hopes, and your dreams.
And you piece these things together to weave the wonderful story of how your children joined the family. Maybe it’s in a scrapbook or maybe it’s in a photo book that you added your photos, artwork, journal pages, and creative genius to and had published.
But whatever it looks like – it tells the most amazing story: “You were once just my embryo. Now you are my baby.”
